June 2026 Development Update

The rules are built. The next stage is art.

Forlazia has reached an important milestone. The game is moving beyond the construction of its core mechanics and into the next major phase: art development, visual design, and component presentation.

The rule set has been written and tested through internal play sessions. Those tests have helped refine combat, exploration, travel, character development, and scenario flow. More playtesting is still needed, and the game will continue to evolve as new groups encounter the system, but the mechanical foundation is now stable enough to support the next stage of development.

The rulebook has also been developed and is now being prepared for professional layout and visual design. This stage will transform the working manuscript into a clear, immersive player resource supported by diagrams, illustrations, examples, and polished graphic design.

Heroes, Races & Game Components

The playable world is taking shape.

All of the core heroes and playable races have been built and designed. Their identities, strengths, abilities, and roles within the party are established, giving players a broad range of ways to approach combat, exploration, magic, survival, and social challenges.

The game’s card systems have also been developed. These include hero abilities, equipment, treasure, enemies, conditions, scenario content, and the many discoveries that bring the world of Forlazia to life. With the structures complete, the focus is now shifting toward visual consistency, iconography, readability, illustration, and final component presentation.

Heroes & ArchetypesDistinct roles, abilities, progression paths, and tactical identities.
Playable RacesFully designed races with unique traits, visual identity, and gameplay roles.
Card SystemsDeveloped structures for skills, spells, items, enemies, treasure, and scenarios.
Rulebook LayoutWritten content is moving into professional art direction and graphic design.

Building the First Campaign

A campaign designed around discovery and choice.

The first campaign has been mapped from beginning to end, establishing its major locations, conflicts, discoveries, and story progression. The first three scenarios are now created and serve as the foundation for testing how players experience the world and uncover its mysteries.

Scenario cards guide the party through each adventure. They introduce locations, reveal story developments, present objectives, and place meaningful decisions directly in the hands of the players. As the party explores, their choices can open new paths, uncover clues, reveal hidden areas, and change how the scenario unfolds.

Corresponding quest cards add another layer of discovery. These cards unveil secrets as the players investigate dungeons, wilderness locations, ruins, settlements, and other parts of the world. Rather than presenting the full story at the beginning, the game reveals information as the party earns it through exploration.

Story Through Exploration

Narrative information is revealed as players enter new locations, investigate their surroundings, and interact with the world.

Meaningful Choices

Player decisions can reveal clues, open routes, change objectives, and influence how each scenario progresses.

Quest Card Discoveries

Quest cards expose hidden truths, secrets, and new possibilities as the party explores dungeons and wilderness areas.

What Comes Next

Art direction, expanded testing, and production preparation.

The next phase will focus on developing the visual identity of the game: hero art, race design, enemy illustration, card presentation, rulebook layout, iconography, and component design. At the same time, continued playtesting will help refine balance, usability, clarity, and campaign flow.

Future updates will share more of this process, including art previews, card layouts, rulebook spreads, campaign development, and progress toward crowdfunding.
